The Publix #1767 at University Square is a new facility in an existing shopping center in Greenville, South Carolina. The scope of the 49,092-square-foot project involved working in an active shopping center allowing the existing Publix to remain in operation while the new facility was constructed. This included the related site work needed to accommodate the new supermarket and renovations of the existing façade on two existing retail buildings. Public safety was top of mind and one of the challenges involved throughout the project. Conventional steel framing, metal studs, asphalt built-up roofing system, and an electric traction elevator are some of the major components of the new store. Exterior building cladding includes a mixture of brick veneer, polished CMU, stucco, stacked stone, and prefinished aluminum canopies. The new Publix supermarket provides an excellent new shopping alternative that meets all the needs of today’s shoppers.
