The Triad Business Journal reported that interior work on the 75-room Hotel Indigo in the six-story, 49,000-square-foot Pepper Building would begin Sept. 5, with construction expected to be complete in August 2018. Though Mayfair has a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group, the hotel will have a unique look.

Originally scheduled to open this fall, the Hotel Indigo was delayed by financing issues.

Built in 1928, the Pepper Building will be totally-gutted inside.  Omega Construction Co. of Pilot Mountain is the contractor. The architect/interior designer is ArchStudio7 of Winston-Salem.

Sir Winston, a steakhouse that once operated in the basement of the Pepper Building, will be re-opened on the ground-level floor “two or three months” prior to the Hotel Indigo opening.  The basement is planned for use for meetings or special events.
