As an honor to Paul Covington, Founder of Omega Construction, for his retirement on Dec. 31, 2017 after 43 years of service, Omega established the Covington Award. Omega’s motto is “We Build Trust”. The Covington award is given out annually to the employee that best exhibits this motto during the year in working with their Customers.
Paul has a saying about Customers – “When you begin a job, you begin with a Customer and when you finish the job, you should have established a friend.” This year’s recipient is a Project Manager that takes that statement to the extreme because he usually begins the project with Customers that he has already developed a close friendship with. The inscription on the award reads – “In recognition of your exceptional efforts in Building Trust with our Customers”. This year’s recipient of the Covington Award is Kirk Matthews.
President Barry Hennings stated, “Kirk’s close trusting relationships with his Customers resulting in those Customers’ desire to award their projects to Omega have led to numerous repeat projects. Kirk not only spends the time developing relationships, but during construction he makes every effort possible to attend to the Customer with budgets, schedule, quality and safety; letting them know how important their project is to Omega, while making sure the Project goals are met. Kirk is well deserving of this award.”
Kirk is currently managing Omega’s largest project under construction – JLA Homes/Chesterfield DC in Port Wentworth, GA, a 1.3 million sf tilt-up distribution center. Kirk is also managing the adjacent 423,000 sf Parcel C, Lot4 distribution center for Chesterfield.
